Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda. The park is at the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is home to mountain gorillas which live in the forested area of the park. The mountain gorillas are one of the endangered large primates which are found in the park. Kihihi Airstrip

Kihihi Airstrip is located in southwestern Uganda in Kihihi town. This is one of the oldest airstrips in southwestern Uganda under the management of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority. This airstrip is near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park. The distance from the airstrip to the Entebbe International Airport is about 396 kilometers. From the airstrip to reach the park is about 1 hour and 30 minutes of drive. The nearest sector to this airstrip is the Buhoma sector.

Kisoro Airstrip

Kisoro airstrip is in southwestern Uganda in Kisoro town. This airstrip is close to the southern sector of the park. This airstrip is near the Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors of the park. While choosing flights to the Bwindi impenetrable national park, travelers are supposed to know that they have to schedule domestic chartered flights to the airstrips near the park.

How much is a flight to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park?

Activities done in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Gorilla trekking

 This is one of the primary activities travelers engage in during the Uganda safaris. Travelers engage in this activity in search of mountain gorillas. Tracked gorillas are usually first habituated for them to get used to the human presence. The activity also requires travelers to have booked a gorilla trekking permit since they are limited in number. The activity lasts for about 2 to 7 hours of the day and travelers have one hour viewing them maintaining a distance of about 4 meters.

This activity is only available in the Rushaga sector of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The activity offers travelers more time to see the mountain gorillas. The activity is quite expensive for travelers but gives travelers more time to see the gorillas. Gorilla habituation is usually done to the gorillas to make them used for the human presence.

How much is a gorilla trekking permit in Uganda?

Gorilla trekking permits in the Bwindi impenetrable national park are about 144 in number and travelers are supposed to book in time to ensure availability.  The gorilla trekking permits cost about 800 dollars for foreign nonresidents, 700 dollars for foreign residents, 500 dollars for the rest of Africa, and 300,000 Uganda shillings for the East African residents.

What is the best time for flying to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park?

Flying to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is open for travelers throughout the year. However, the dry season is the best time to visit the Bwindi impenetrable national park. The dry season runs from June to September and from December to February and it is the best time since the park is dry and clear for trekking. More so, flights depend on weather and hence the dry season is the best time to fly to Bwindi National Park.
