Bwindi impenetrable National park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in southwestern Uganda, at the border of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. It was established in 1992 to protect the endangered mountain gorilla species. It is also considered to be the largest protected area for mountain gorillas. The park is divided into four sectors: Rushaga, Ruhija, Buhoma, and Nkuringo. There are about 20 habituated gorilla families in this park. More so, travelers can engage in gorilla trekking and gorilla habituation. Travelers on their summer holidays can consider this park as one of the best places to visit in Uganda.

To participate in gorilla trekking and habituation, you are supposed to acquire the gorilla permit. This is an official document that allows travelers to see mountain gorillas. A gorilla trekking permit costs about 800 USD for foreign nonresidents, 700 USD for foreign residents, and 300,000 UGX for East African residents.

Gorilla habituation is done in the Rushaga sector of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A gorilla habituation permit in this park costs 1500 USD for foreign nonresidents, 700 USD for foreign residents, and the rest of the African residents, and 750000 UGX for East African residents.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

This is one of the most popular and frequently visited savannah parks. It is located in western Uganda, at the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the second-largest national park in Uganda. Queen Elizabeth National Park, a well-known savannah national park in western Uganda, offers a variety of activities. From the thrill of chimpanzee trekking to the serenity of a boat cruise, this park has something for every traveler. To participate in any activity within this park, travelers must pay the park entrance fees, including 40 USD for foreign non-residents, 30 USD for foreign residents, and 20000 UGX for East African residents. 

Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park, located in Uganda’s northwestern region, derives its name from the world’s strongest waterfalls within its boundaries. It is one of Uganda’s most popular parks. Visitors on safaris to this park can participate in various activities, including game drives, chimpanzee trekking, birdwatching, boat cruises, chimpanzee habituation, and more.

Travelers wishing to participate in any activities at Murchison Falls National Park must first pay the entrance fee and associated activity costs. It is the largest park in Uganda.

Kibale National Park

Regarded as the primate capital, Kibale National Park is a protected area for chimpanzees in Uganda. It is situated in western Uganda. Although several primates live in this park, the chimpanzee dominates largely. The park offers activities like chimpanzee trekking, habituation, nature walks, and many others.

To observe chimpanzees in this park, visitors must obtain a trekking permit, a legal document granting access to see the chimps. The permit costs approximately 300 USD for foreign non-residents, 250 USD for foreign residents, and 180,000 Uganda shillings for East African residents.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary stands out as a distinctive location in Uganda. It is the sole protected area where rhinos can roam freely. Situated in the Nakasongola district of northwestern Uganda, this sanctuary provides visitors with the exceptional chance to track rhinos in their natural environment. Here, travelers can participate in rhino tracking, nature walks, and more.

Kampala City

Kampala is Uganda’s primary administrative city. It is situated in central Uganda near Lake Victoria and is characterized by several hills. This city offers numerous destinations for travelers on safari, including the Independence Monument, the National Museum, the Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrine, and many more. Lake Mburo National Park
