Best Time for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience in Kibale Forest Uganda

Kibale Forest is open at any time of the year for Chimpanzee Habituation, however, the best time is during the dry season. Uganda has two wet seasons every year, and Kibale Forest, being a tropical rainforest receives large volumes of rainfall during the wet season. The rain leaves the forest ground soaked with all trails being muddy and slippery. This makes the walking trails unpassable and chimpanzee habituation hard.

The forest canopies and undergrowth grow rapidly during the wet season because of the abundant rains, thus hindering the visibility of the chimpanzees. On the other hand, the dry season is ideal for chimpanzee habituation since it is characterized by dry and humid temperatures with no rainfall. During this time, the trails in the forest remain dry and easily passable with sparse vegetation cover to aid visibility. The dry seasons take place during June, September, December, and February.

However, it is important to note that the weather in Uganda is unpredictable as it can still rain in the dry season or shine strongly in the wet season. Thus, pack proper gear for chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale Forest Uganda ready to avoid weather surprises.
