Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kampala. Meet our professional driver guide. After the meet and greet, he or she will brief you about the 9 Days Uganda Primate and Wildlife Safari. You will be transferred to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, you will have an exclusive rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is a one-stop destination for spotting these critically endangered species. Lunch will be along the way. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park. Once you have arrived, you will check in to your earlier booked lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 2: Morning game drive, afternoon boat cruise hike to the top falls

You will start your day with a delicious cup of African coffee or tea. Later on, you will embark on the drive through the park. Morning game drives in Murchison Falls National Park are best for seeing the early risers of the park. Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s oldest and largest national park. The park is home to the big four animals namely; lion, elephant, elephant, and African cape buffalo. The morning game drive will give you a chance to enjoy the beautiful melodies from the many bird species of the park. Some of the bird species in Murchison Falls National Park include; hadada ibis, Abyssinian ground hornbill, weaver birds, grey-crowned crested crane, and many more. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, you will go to the Nile River for an exceptional boat cruise on your Uganda safari. A boat cruise on the Nile River introduces you to many hippos, Nile crocodiles, and many water bird species. This is also a chance to interact with the local members of the communities. The boat will take you to the bottom of Murchison Falls (the world’s strongest waterfalls). Later, you will hike to the top of the falls. You will be accompanied by a professional safari guide ready to answer your questions. Later, meet your driver and transfer to the lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After a relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the drive to Kibale National Park. Kibale National Park is also known as the primate capital of the world. The road is a mixture of lush green vegetation and scenic views of the surrounding areas. This is one of the travel days on your 9 Days Uganda Primate and Wildlife Safari. Lunch will be along the way. Upon arrival at Kibale National Park, check in to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Wetland walk

Remember you are on a Uganda primate safari! This is a primate day. You will start with a delicious early meal. The driver will take you to Kanyanchu Park headquarters. After briefing, you will be assigned a ranger guide to lead you into the forest. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the chimps and how fast you can walk. Upon meeting the chimps, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence. During the one hour, you will take photos and create many memories with these human-like apes. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will take a walk around the Bigodi community. A walk in Magombe Forest will introduce you to many Rift Valley endemic species of birds including the rare Rwenzori turaco. You will visit the banana village and take part in brewing local beer. Meet the traditional Bakiga dancer and make coffee as well. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Another great day awaits! After a warm breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the road to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will stop at Fort Portal for a city tour and hike to the top of the world.  A visit to Nyakasura Falls is a moment turned into a memory. Lunch will be at a hotel in Fort Portal City. Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park –  Uganda’s most popular safari destination. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 6: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive in the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is a gem for wildlife and birds. From lions to large herds of elephants and buffaloes, this park is a good place to be on a safari. You will come across many savannah bird species as well as many trees. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will drive to either Mweya or Katunguru for a boat cruise. The cruise will introduce you to large schools of hippos. You will also see many crocodiles and birds. A chance for you to interact with the local members of the communities. In the evening, you will come back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Game drive in Ishasha and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive through the Ishasha sector. The sector is famous for being home to tree-climbing lions. On a lucky day, you may land on a pride of lions hunting down a buffalo. Proceed with an en-route lunch to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night over.

Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking and Batwa community tour

This is one of the epic days of your 9 Days Uganda Primate and Wildlife Safari. The day will start with a delicious meal early in the morning. You be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing. Enter the impenetrable forests of Bwindi in search of the mountain gorillas. You will meet other primate species like white colobus monkeys. Once you meet the assigned gorilla family, you will spend one hour in their presence. Take as many photos as you wish while following photography rules and regulations. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit the neighboring Batwa and Bakiga communities. Take part in their activities like making fire and traditional dances. Later, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge, and embark on the drive to Kampala. You will have lunch along the way. At the Uganda Equator, you will take photos and do some water experiments. Proceed to your hotel in Kampala. Alternatively, the driver guide will drop you at the Entebbe International Airport for an outbound flight. This will mark the end of this special 9 Days Uganda Primate and Wildlife Safari.
