9 Days Rwanda and Uganda Primate Safari

The 9 days Rwanda and Uganda primate safari will take you through the Akagera National Park, Volcanoes National Park, Gorilla Guardian Village, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kibale National Park. The safari will start from Rwanda Kigali and will end in Uganda Entebbe. On this safari, you will encounter several wildlife in the savannah parks and also primates. By the time you come to the end of this 9 days Rwanda and Uganda primate safari, you will have created a signature of memories.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park

On arrival in Kigali, you will be picked up by our company guide from Kigali. You will be transferred to Akagera National Park on the eastern side of Rwanda. This is the only savannah park in Rwanda. On arrival, you will start over with lunch and in the afternoon you will be transferred to Lake Ihema for a boat cruise. During the boat cruise, you will see several wildlife like hippos, elephants, crocodiles, buffaloes, and many others. In the evening, you will be transferred back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

You will start your day with an early morning breakfast and then you will be transferred to the park for a morning game drive. In the game drive, several wildlife will be seen like lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, rhinos, and many others. Later on, you will go ahead with the transfer to the Volcanoes National Park on the western side of the country.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and a visit to the Gorilla guardian village

While in the Volcanoes National Park, you will be transferred to the Volcanoes National Park for the briefing about the golden monkey trekking. Then you will go ahead with the golden monkey trekking which will take about 2 to 5 hours of the day upon where you meet them. Then you will go ahead with the visit to the gorilla guardian village for the amazing cultural experience of the Rwandese. During this visit to the village, you will encounter several people like the former poachers, Batwa who used to live with the gorillas. You will engage in several cultural activities like dances, storytelling, banana brewing, and many others.

Day 4: Transfer to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will start the day with the morning breakfast and then proceed with the transfer to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. As you transfer to the Bwindi impenetrable national park, you will be involved in the cross border. On arrival at the Cyanika border, you will clear with the migration office and then go ahead with the transfer to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community visit

After your morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the gorilla trekking. During the briefing, you will be highlighted the dos and don’ts about the gorilla trekking. Then you will go ahead with the gorilla trekking which will last about 2 to 7 hours of the day. During the gorilla trekking, you will have 1-hour viewing of gorillas. Later on, you will start to continue to the Batwa community. During the visit to the Batwa, you will encounter the former inhabitants of the Bwindi impenetrable national park. While in the community, you will encounter the Batwa in several activities like cultural dances, storytelling, coffee roasting, and many others.

Day 6: Transfer to the Queen Elizabeth National Park

On day 6, you will start with the transfer to the Queen Elizabeth National Park. The transfer will take about 4 to reach the park. On arrival at Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will start over with lunch and go ahead with the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. During the boat cruise, you will see several wildlife like elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and many others.

Day 7: Morning game drive and transfer to the Kibale National Park.

You start day 7 with the morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains which is the northern part of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. During the game drive, you will see several wildlife like lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, warthogs, and many others. Then later on, you will go ahead with the transfer to the Kibale National Park which will take about 3 hours to reach the park.

Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi community tour

On the second last day of the 9 days of Rwanda and Uganda primate safaris, you will start with the briefing at the park headquarters about the chimpanzee trekking. In the briefing, you will be highlighted the dos and don’ts about the chimpanzee trekking. Then, you will continue with the activity which will take about 2 to 7 hours of the day. Later on, you will go ahead with the community tour of Bigodi. During the community tour, you will engage in banana brewing, coffee roasting, wetland tour, and many others.

Day 9: Transfer to Entebbe – Departure

You will have your breakfast and then you will be transferred to the Nyakasura caves. During the visit to the caves, you will be highlighted about their history and then you will hike to the top of the falls. Then you will transfer to Kampala which will take about 5 hours. On arrival, you will be transferred to Entebbe where you will either choose to be transferred to the airport for your outbound flights or to the hotel of your choice. This will mark the end of your amazing 9 days Rwanda and Uganda primate safari.
