9 Days Congo Nile Trail and Nyungwe Safari
Welcome to the 9 days Congo Nile Trail and Nyungwe Safari, an amazing safari package that will take you through great safari destinations in East Africa. The safari will take you to the Congo Nile Trail and the lush Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda. Additionally, you will explore Lake Kivu and visit multiple local communities. You will trek chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest National Park, as well as a canopy walk. In addition to these activities, you will do a city tour. Generally, by the time you come to the end of this safari, you will have created a signature of memories.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Kigali City Tour
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet our driver guide. He or she will brief you about the 9 days Congo Nile Trail and Nyungwe Safari. Later on, you will transfer to Kigali and do a city tour. In this tour, you will visit local markets and museums and explore the city at large. In the evening, check in to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Rubavu
After your breakfast, you will transfer to Rubavu. The town is near Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, explore different sites and meet the locals if you must. You will dine at a lodge and spend the night over.

Day 3: Transfer to Gisenyi to Rwinyoni (Kimbiri)
Wake up to a nice breakfast and proceed with the transfer to the beginning point of the Congo Nile Trail. You will first attend an orientation led by an experienced ranger guide. Later on, you will start with the walk. It will take you to the northwest side of Lake Kivu. This part of the Congo Nile Trail offers amazing views of Lake Kivu. You will continue with the walk up to Kimbiri. Here, you explore the surrounding villages around the trail.

Day 4: Transfer to Kinunu
Today, you will wake up early and engage have breakfast. Proceed with a two-hour walk to the fishing village of Nkora. In this area, you will encounter several fishermen. Proceed to the banana and coffee plantations. In Kinunu, you will encounter a coffee-washing station. Learn about the stories related to the area as you proceed with the 9 days Congo Nile Trail and Nyungwe Safari.

Day 5: Transfer to Congo Nile via Musasa
The day will start with breakfast as always. Then, you will proceed with a tour along Lake Kivu. You will visit the local communities. More so, you will enjoy views of the surrounding banana plantations. You will visit the well-known Kinunu Church.

Day 6: Transfer to Rubengera Junction
After your breakfast, you will engage in another long walk that will take about 7 hours of the day. This walk will take you through the walk to the Rubengera junction. You will continue with the walk up to the main road. Proceed to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Boat Cruise on Lake Kivu and Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Day 7 will start with breakfast and a transfer from Kibuye to Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, you will take a boat cruise. Here, you will see many islands. Later on, you will drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Upon arrival, check in to a lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk
After your early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. You will know the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. Then, you will continue with the activity as you walk in the forests. Chimpanzee trekking takes about 2 to 7 hours of the day including the one hour spent with chimps. After tracking the chimpanzees, you will engage in the canopy walk on a suspended bridge. This is a perfect spot for seeing many birds and primates. Later, you will transfer to a lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Kigali
On the last day of the 9 days Congo Nile Trail and Nyungwe Safari, you will transfer to Kigali. This is after you have had a leisurely breakfast at the lodge. The driver you drop either at a hotel or airport as you will advise. This will mark the end of the amazing 9 days Congo Nile Trail and Nyungwe Safari.
