7 Days Uganda Primates and Equator Experience

Welcome to the 7 Days Uganda Primates and Equator Experience which will take you to amazing destinations. These destinations are home to Uganda’s primates including the gorillas, golden monkeys, and chimpanzees. The destinations will be visited include Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kibale National Park. The equator experience will take you to several equator points in Payable and the Queen Elizabeth National Park. In this safari, you will engage in community visits of the Batwa and local communities in Bigodi and Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Upon arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will meet our driver guide. He or she will brief you about the 7 Days Uganda Primates and Equator Experience. You will transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in southwestern Uganda. During the transfer, you will make a stopover for the equator for an amazing experience. Here, you will engage in photography and water experiments. Then you will proceed with the transfer to the park. Once you arrive, you will check into a lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking and Community Visit

This day starts with breakfast and then you will then go to the park headquarters. You will get briefing about the golden monkey trekking. Just like gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking follows a set of rules and regulations. Additionally, you will be grouped and assigned an armed ranger or guide. He or she will take you into the forests in search of these apes. Upon meeting the golden monkeys, tourists are allowed to spend one hour in their presence. This is the time you have been waiting for, make the most of it.

Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a community tour. Here, you will engage in activities like cultural dances, folk songs, and many others. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up to a delicious breakfast and check out of the lodge. You will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This day is meant for you to relax and cool. If you wish, you will visit the Batwa villages in Bwindi on this day. We shall preferably be in the Buhoma Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This sector is close to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dinner and overnight will be at a lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Tour

Day 4 of the 7 Days Uganda Primates and Equator Experience will start with breakfast.  After breakfast, you will proceed to the Park headquarters for gorilla trekking. The activity starts with a briefing about gorilla trekking. It is here that you will learn about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. You will proceed with the activity which takes 2 to 7 hours. Once you meet the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour in the presence of gorillas. Break for lunch and relaxation at the lodge.

In the afternoon, you will do an optional Batwa community tour. Enjoy stories told by men and women who call Bwindi National Park home. No one wishes to miss witnessing the traditional dances displayed by these locals. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 5 will start with breakfast and then proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. The road will take you through the southern part of Uganda. In the Ishasha Sector, you will have an opportunity to see the tree-climbing lions. Continue with a drive to Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. On the boat cruise, you will encounter several wildlife like hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles, and many others.  You will continue to a lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking and transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, proceed to Kyambura Gorge for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. You will have the highlights on how to engage in the chimpanzee trekking in the gorge. Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge takes 2 to 5 hours of the day. Tourists spend one hour in the presence of chimps upon meeting them and so will you. Break for lunch and embark on the road to Kibale Forest National Park. Upon arrival, you will engage in a community tour of Bigodi village. Here, you will engage in banana brewing experience, coffee roasting, and many others.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Kampala

On the last day of the safari, you will have breakfast and drive to the park headquarters. Here, you will meet a guide who will take you through chimpanzee trekking rules and regulations. You will continue with the activity which will take about 2 to 7 hours of the day. You will go ahead with the transfer to Kampala and upon arrival you will be transferred to the airport for your outbound flights.
