Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and Kigali city tour

On the first day of your safari, you will be transferred from Kigali International Airport to the hotel for relaxation. After the relaxation, you will proceed to your lunch at the hotel. Then later on you will embark on a Kigali city tour.  During the city tour, the sites will include the Kigali genocide, the Nyamata genocide church, the Belgium monument, the Hotel Rwanda, and many other sites. Later on, you be transferred back to the hotel for your relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

 On the 2nd day of the 6 days Rwanda gorilla and game safari you will start with breakfast. Then later, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to the Akagera National Park. Akagera National Park is located in the eastern part of Rwanda it takes about 2 and a half hours to arrive in the park. On arrival in the park, you will check in to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. Later on, you will move to Lake Ihema for the amazing boat cruise where you will see a lot of wildlife. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Full day in Akagera National Park

You will have a full-day adventure in the Akagera National Park. You will start the day with an early morning breakfast and then proceed into the park. The adventure in the park is where you will encounter the big five animals and other wildlife including antelopes, hippos, and many others. Then later, you will continue with your picnic lunch in the park and proceed with the adventure in the park. You will be transferred to the hotel for dinner and overnight in the evening.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After your early morning breakfast, you will proceed with the transfer to the Volcanoes National Park through Kigali to Musanze. The journey will take about 2 hours and 30 minutes. On arrival in the park, you will start over with lunch and relaxation. Then you will continue with the nature walk within the park where you will see some bird species and other wildlife.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park

You will start the day with an early morning breakfast and then later you will move to the park headquarters for the briefing. After the briefing, you move into the forest to track the gorillas in their natural habitats. The activity will last for 2 to 7 hours of the day and upon meeting the gorillas, you will have one hour in their presence. Later on, you will proceed to the Gorilla Guardian village or Ibyi’wacu cultural village for the amazing cultural experience of the Rwandese culture.

Day 6: Hike of the Dian Fossey Tomb and transfer to Kigali

On your last day of the 6 days Rwanda gorilla and game safari, you will start the day with the transfer back to the park headquarters for the briefing about the Dian Fossey tomb hike. Then later you will proceed with the hike with a ranger guide. During the hike, the ranger guide will be highlighting the history of Dian Fossey’s activities towards the conservation of the gorillas. Upon arrival at the tomb, you see her house next to the tomb and the other 20 tombs of the people who were killed by the poachers. Then you will descend back to the starting point. The activity will last for 3 to 4 hours of the day. You will proceed back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. Check out of the lodge and then proceed to Kigali city for either an outbound flight or drop at the hotel.
