5 Days Kahuzi Biega and Nyungwe Safari
The 5 Days Kahuzi Biega and Nyungwe Safari safari will begin from Kigali city. Here, you will have a transfer from the Cyangugu border to Congo to Bukavu. Bukavu is the nearest town to the Kahuzi Biega National Park which is home to the eastern lowland gorillas. The other is the chimpanzee trekking in the Nyungwe Forest National Park which are close relatives to the humans. While in the Nyungwe Forest National Park, you will also see some other wildlife species. Then you will proceed with the city tour of Kigali city where you will visit sites like the Kigali genocide, the Kigali Museum, the Presidents’ Museum, and many others sites.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bukavu
On day 1 of the 5 days of Kahuzi Biega and Nyungwe safari, you will start with a transfer from the Kigali airport to the Kahuzi Beige National Park. During your transfer, you will experience the change in the landscape as you go through the land of a thousand hills. You will have your en-route lunch near the Cyangugu border. Later on, you will proceed to the Cyangugu border and then cross to Bukavu the nearest town to the Kahuzi Biega National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As you arrive in Bukavu, you will check in to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Lowland Gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park
After your early morning breakfast, you will proceed with the 45-minute drive to the Kahuzi Beige National Park. Upon arrival in the park, you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking. Then later, you will go ahead with the lowland gorilla trekking in the park. The activity will take about 3 to 5 hours of the day. upon locating the gorillas, you will have one hour to see them in their natural habitat. Later on, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer back to Rwanda – Nyungwe Forest National Park
After your amazing lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park, you will proceed with the transfer back to Rwanda. Drive through the dusty roads of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Upon arrival at the border, you will check in to the country and then proceed to the Nyungwe Forest National Park. As soon as you arrive in the Nyungwe Forest National Park, check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
After breakfast at your lodge, you will go to the park headquarters for the chimpanzee trekking briefing. Chimpanzees are believed to be close relatives of human beings. This is why the day will be an amazing one. After the briefing, you will proceed with chimpanzee trekking. The activity will last for about 3 to 4 hours of the day. Then later, you will have one hour with the chimpanzees. You will go back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, visit the park once more for a canopy walk through the forest. While on the canopy walk, you will also have the opportunity to see some wildlife in the park. Later on, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Kigali city tour and transfer to the airport
On the last day of your 5 days of Kahuzi Biega and Nyungwe safari, you will have an early morning breakfast. Check out of the lodge and be transferred to Kigali city. While in Kigali, you will start with the city tour. Sites like the Kigali Genocide Museum, the President’s Museum, the Belgian Monument, and many others will be visited. Later on, you will proceed with lunch. You will be transferred to the airport or a hotel of your choice. This will mark the end of your 5 days Kahuzi Biega and Nyungwe safari.
