4 Days Rwanda Big 5 Safari

While in the land of a thousand Hills Rwanda on the 4 days Rwanda Big 5 safari, you will visit the Akagera National Park and the Volcanoes National Park. While in the Akagera National Park, you will have the opportunity to see the big five animals which include lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffaloes plus other wildlife in the park. Also, this is the only savannah park in Rwanda where travelers can engage in the game drive or game viewing and also the boat cruise on Lake Ihema. The volcanoes are national in the western part of the country within the Virunga region, the home to the mountain gorillas and where the travelers can engage in the gorilla trekking. The safari will start and end in Kigali City

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to the Akagera National Park

You will be picked by the company guide who will transfer you to the eastern part of Rwanda to the Akagera National Park. Upon arrival in the Akagera National Park, you will start over with lunch. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Lake Ihema for the boat cruise. You will see several wildlife on the lake shores like hippos, elephants, zebras, and many others.

Day 2: Full day in Akagera National Park

After your early morning breakfast, you will be transferred into the park for a full-day adventure. While in the park, you will see several wildlife including the big five animals like lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos. The other wildlife to be seen in the park will be the cheetahs, zebras, hippos, giraffes, and many other wildlife.

Day 3: Transfer to the Volcanoes National Park

In the morning, you will start over with the breakfast and then go ahead with the transfer to the Volcanoes National Park. The transfer to the park will take about 5 hours to the park. On arrival in the park, you will have lunch and be left to rest for the day. You may as well visit the Gorilla Guardians Village and learn about the traditions of Rwandese. Take part in their traditional dances before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali

On your last day of the safari, you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking. During the briefing, you will be highlighted the dos and don’ts about the gorilla trekking. Later on, you will proceed with the gorilla trekking which will take about 2 to 6 hours of the day and you also have one hour viewing them. Later on, you will be transferred to Kigali city for the outbound flight or a hotel of your choice.
