3 Days Nyungwe Chimpanzee Trekking Safari

The 3 days Nyungwe chimpanzee trekking safari will take you to the Nyungwe Forest National Park in the western part of Rwanda. The park is home to several chimpanzees which travelers can engage to trek. During the chimpanzee trekking in the park, you will see the different other small mammals. The other is the canopy walk and also the hike to the waterfalls within the Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to the Nyungwe Forest National Park

On day 1 of the 3 days Nyungwe chimpanzee trekking safari, you will be transferred from Kigali to the Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will take a city tour and visit places like the Kigali Genocide Museum. More so, you will visit the local markets and buy fresh fruits. Proceed and drive through endless roiling hills to Nyungwe National Park. Lunch will be along the way. Upon arrival, you will check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk

After your early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for the chimpanzee trekking. While at the park headquarters, you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts of the chimpanzee trekking. The activity will last about 2 to 6 hours of the day and upon meeting the chimpanzee, you will have 1 hour viewing them. The park is home to many other primates. Later you will transfer back to the hotel for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you will proceed for the Canopy walk within the park. While in the canopy walk, you will see different primates and bird species. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Hiking to the waterfalls and transfer to Kigali

On the last day, you will transfer back to the park headquarters for the briefing about the hiking to the waterfalls. The hike will take you about 4 to 5 hours of the day. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred back to Kigali for your outbound flight or a hotel of your choice.
