3 Days Murchison Falls National Park Safari

Welcome to the 3 Days Murchison Falls National Park Safari, a journey that promises unique and unforgettable experiences. Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park, is a sprawling 3893 km2 area in the country’s northwestern part. Established in 1952, the park is renowned for its mighty waterfalls, where the River Nile surges through a 7-meter gap before cascading into the Albertine delta.

Murchison Falls National Park is home to about 76 mammals and over 450 bird species. It’s known for the highest concentration of Hippos and crocodiles along the riverbank. It is also home to the Big Five mammals, including lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards.

Murchison Falls National Park is adjacent to Budongo Forest, a chimpanzee sanctuary. This guarantees that you can track chimpanzees in the forest. The Park is unique because you can see animals, primates, forests, and beautiful terrain.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Our professional driver guide will pick you up from the hotel at around 7:30 am, brief you about the journey, and set off. The journey will take 5-6 hours, but with stopovers. You will branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking for about 2 hours. After tracking, you will go for lunch in Masindi and continue the journey to the park. You will arrive in the evening and check into your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

Wake up at 6:30 am, have breakfast, and embark on your game drive. This activity takes about 2-3 hours, but it’s gratifying since you will see carnivorous animals enjoying their hunts. For example, lions feeding on buffalo and leopards putting down antelopes are once-in-a-lifetime experiences one should never miss.

Also, you may come across different bird species in tree branches chirping their sweet melodies, which will make your game drive colorful. Meet a herd of grazers and browsers, such as buffalo, elephants, giraffes, and waterbucks.

After this game drive, you will return to the hotel for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, at around 2 p.m., you will head out for a boat cruise at the bottom of the falls after lunch. You will see the magical Nile River forcing its water into the narrow gorge, forming the world’s strongest waterfalls.

While on this launch cruise, you will meet schools of hippos floating on the river and crocodiles sunbathing at the river bank while elephants and buffaloes quench their thirst on the river banks. After this busy evening, return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Budongo forest and transfer back to Kampala

Wake up as early as 6:30 am, have a packed breakfast, pack your luggage, check out from the hotel, and embark on the chimpanzee tracking adventure in Budongo forest. This is one of its kind since Budongo forest is one of the best chimpanzee sanctuaries and gives the best chimpanzee trekking experience.

The forest is home to over 150 bird species, simultaneously making chimpanzee trekking and bird watching happen. After these activities, you will proceed and be transferred to Kampala. En route, you will stop at Masindi for lunch and proceed to Kampala. This will end your fantastic 3 days Murchison Falls National Park Safari.
