3 Days Gorilla Trekking & Dian Fossey Hike
The 3 days gorilla trekking & Dian Fossey Hike will start in Kigali city with the city tour. During the city tour, you will visit sites like the Kigali Genocide Museum, Belgian monuments, and many others. The gorilla trekking in the Volcanoes National Park is also a rewarding experience on this safari. The park is home to 10 gorilla families. Additionally, the park is where you will hike to visit the Dian Fossey tombs. At the Karisoke Research Centre, you will learn the history of gorilla conservation activities in the Virunga Conservation Area. Gorilla Guardian Village is also on the bucket list. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes National Park (City Tour)
On your first day of the 3 days of gorilla trekking & Dian Fossey hike, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to Kigali city for your city tour. While on the Kigali city tour, you will be able to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, the President’s Museum, the Belgian Monument, and many others. Later, you will proceed with lunch in Kigali city. Embark on the drive to the Volcanoes National Park. The park is about 2 hours from Kigali. Upon arrival, check in to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and a visit to the Gorilla Guardian village
After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations. On arrival at the park headquarters, you will be divided into groups. Later you will proceed with the activity which will last 2 to 7 hours of the day. When you meet these primates, you will have 1 hour to view the gorillas in their natural habitats. Then after the gorilla trekking, you will proceed to the Gorilla Guardian Village for the amazing cultural experience of the Rwandese, Batwa community. During this visit, you will engage in various activities like cultural dances, weddings, banana beer brewing, and many others.

Day 3: Dian Fossey Hike and transfer to Kigali
On the last day of your 3 days of gorilla trekking & Dian Fossey tomb hike, you will go to the park headquarters for the briefing about the Dian Fossey tomb hike. You will proceed with the park ranger to the hike which will take 3 to 4 hours. During the hike, the ranger guide will offer you all the history and information of Dian Fossey’s works. During the hike, you will be able to spot some other wildlife like forest hogs, birds, duikers, gorillas, and many others. The trail is about 2900 to 3000 meters above sea level.
Upon reaching the place, your ranger guide will give you plenty of history about Dian Fossey’s works that she did towards the fighting against gorilla trekking, gorilla habituation, and many other activities related to gorillas. You will be able to see his grave and with other 20 graves killed by the poachers. During this visit, you will also be able to see the house that she used to live in. Then later, you will go back to the park headquarters and transfer to Kigali city. This will mark the end of your gorilla trekking and Dian Fossey tour.
